The San Francisco Giants have been around for a long time, and so has their rivalry against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
But it was not until the fifth inning of their series finale on Thursday night against the Dodgers that someone from the Giants had pulled off an inside-the-park home run at Dodger Stadium, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
“San Francisco Giants OF Jung Hoo Lee becomes the first Giants’ player in franchise history to hit an inside-the-park home run at Dodger Stadium. Giants 2, Dodgers 2 (5th inning),” Nightengale shared via a social media post on X, formerly Twitter.
With the Giants trailing Los Angeles at the top of the fifth frame, 2-0, and with two outs and a man on base, Lee stepped up to the plate to face Dodgers starter Emmet Sheehan. Lee found himself behind right away in the count after back-to-back strikes, but made contact on Sheehan’s first pitch, a 94 mph four-seamer. Lee immediately took off, as well as Eric Haase, who got to home plate from first base before Lee finished his dash for the inside-the-park homer,

It was only Lee’s third home run in the 2026 MLB season and his first-ever hit against Emmett. Before that, he was 0-for-5 against the Dodgers pitcher in his career.
San Francisco is looking to get back on track and win the series outright. It won the first two games by a combined score of 15-5, before the Giants fell prey to the reigning World Series champions on Wednesday, 4-0.
