Match Officials: Anthony Taylor to referee Bournemouth vs Manchester City

  • Anthony Taylor will be the referee for Bournemouth vs Manchester City

  • City know that they simply must win to keep their Premier League title hopes alive

  • Pep Guardiola’s side come into the clash off the back of FA Cup Final success over Chelsea

The Premier League have now confirmed the list of match officials for Manchester City’s all-important penultimate English top-flight clash of the season.

Andoni Iraola’s side come into their final home clash of the ongoing season with added impetus to claim all three points, with the Cherries on the verge of a hugely historic campaign with qualification for European football next season within touching distance.

Bournemouth are remarkably unbeaten in the Premier League since January, and notably – as the Ghanaian himself joked during an interview this week – since Antoine Semenyo left the club for Manchester City during the winter transfer window.

As for Manchester City, they come into the clash with added energy after claiming a second major trophy of the 2025/26 season, winning the FA Cup courtesy of a singular goal from the aforementioned Semenyo against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

City retain slim hopes of claiming this season’s Premier League title, knowing that they must win their remaining two matches against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, and hoping that Arsenal slip up against either Burnley at home or Crystal Palace away on the final day.

Ahead of the meeting between Bournemouth and Manchester City, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Vitality Stadium!

Match Referee

Looking ahead to a mammoth clash on Tuesday night on the South Coast, it has been confirmed by the Premier League that the hugely experienced official Anthony Taylor will be the match referee at the Vitality Stadium.

The 47-year-old Manchester-born official will be overseeing his 43rd match as match referee of the ongoing season, having officiated across seven different competitions including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, FA Cup, and World Cup qualification play-offs.

In his 42 matches to date, Anthony Taylor has issued a total of 169 yellow cards, two second yellow card dismissals, two straight red cards, and awarding a total of 10 penalty kicks in the process.

Manchester City are Taylor’s sixth most frequent club to officiate in his professional career, coming across the Sky Blues on 51 previous occasions, with 28 of those games resulting in a win for the club – the others resulting in 10 draws and 13 defeats.

City have received a total of 71 yellow cards from Anthony Taylor, with none of those resulting in a second yellow card dismissal, as well as four straight red cards, and receiving nine penalties in their favour.

Anthony Taylor has officiated Manchester City on four occasions this season, all of which have come in the Premier League, and the only dropping of points for Pep Guardiola’s side in those matches being a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Taylor also officiated the reverse fixture between Tuesday night’s two teams, as Manchester City defeated Andoni Iraola’s squad at the Etihad Stadium back in early November through a 3-1 scoreline.

Assistant Referees

Accompanying Anthony Taylor at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night will be a pairing of Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn, the Premier League have confirmed, with both men appointed into the roles of assistant referees.

Video Assistant Referees

Monitoring proceedings between Bournemouth and Manchester City from the VAR Hub at Stockley Park this week will be Video Assistant Referee, Jarred Gillett, sitting alongside Lee Betts – appointed into the role of Assistant Video Assistant Referee.

Fourth Official

Managing the actions of the two dugouts and Andoni Iraola and Pep Guardiola’s behaviour will be referee Craig Pawson, appointed by the Premier League into the position of fourth official for the contest.
