The NBA invited 73 players to their annual draft combine workouts, which are taking place this week in Chicago. It'll be a time for evaluators to gauge athletic measurables and observe how NBA hopefuls compete against others in the same boat.
Despite being 10 months apart, the NBA draft combine could have a lot to do with how the 2027 NCAA tournament shakes out next spring.
Many players are going through the draft process to see where their stock ultimately lands. One player who is dipping his toes in NBA waters is Milan Momcilovic.
The 6-foot-8 sharpshooter declared for the NBA draft, but also entered the transfer portal, leaving all doors open. Momcilovic was lethal from long range last season and was one of the more talented scorers in college basketball last season for Iowa State.
If Momcilovic's week in Chicago doesn't go the way he'd like it to, there appears to be a solid chance he will return to college hoops, where a plethora of suitors would be waiting.
A good program adding Momcilovic could be elevated to great, while a great program that adds Momcilovic could reach an elite level.
It's truly one of the most fascinating dominoes this week at the NBA draft combine, which could have reverberations on a couple of different levels of basketball.
