For the last couple of seasons, Kyle Busch has struggled. It has led to many speculating where the veteran NASCAR driver will go once his contract is up at the end of this season. Well, he might just stay put.
Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic laid out the silly season details surrounding Richard Childress Racing and Kyle Busch. It is clear that the relationship between driver and team hasn't always been the best. Yet, in recent weeks, there has been a slight uptick in performance.
On Dirty Mo Overdrive, Bianchi talked about the Busch and RCR partnership. Without many options for either the team or driver for 2027, reuniting for another season might be the best bet.

"Right now, it seems very likely that Kyle Busch is going to return to Richard Childress Racing in a contract extension," Bianchi explained. "You may be asking yourself, 'Why would Kyle Busch return to Richard Childress Racing?' A situation that doesn't seem to be working based on their current result.
"Kyle Busch right now, looking at the current marketplace, there really isn't a natural fit for him. Big teams that potentially could have openings, it doesn't work. Hendrick Motorsports, 23XI, those kind of teams, Team Penske, there just isn't a spot for him right there that fits. Any potential option that Kyle Busch realistically has would be a step back from his current situation."
Before this season, it felt like Spire Motorsports could be a future destination for Kyle Busch. Then again, Michael McDowell and Daniel Suárez are performing better than expected in 2026. Carson Hocevar is locked down for possibly the next decade at Spire. Then, as Bianchi said, there really aren't any moves for Busch to make that will be immediate improvements over his current situation. So, why not stay?
