NASCAR was in New York on Sunday, continuing its action at Watkins Glen International.

Drivers took on the 2026 Go Bowling at The Glen on a track featuring seven turns and 141 feet of total elevation change; Shane van Gisbergen came in as the defending champion and the race favorite after securing pole position in Saturday's qualifying.

However, he was set to be challenged by last weekend's winner at Texas Motor Speedway, Chase Elliott, along with Tyler Reddick, Connor Zilisch and Christopher Bell.

Who won the NASCAR race today?

After coming in as the favorite — both as the defending race champion, and from being in pole position — Shane van Gisbergen held on to secure his first win of the season.

van Gisbergen led for a total of 74 laps in the 100-lap event, besting Michael McDowell and Ty Gibbs for first place

At Watkins Glen International, van Gisbergen overcame a 29-second deficit and 24 positions in 17 laps, going on to beat McDowell by 7.28 seconds for the seventh NASCAR Cup Series win of his career.
