Denny Hamlin is on the pole for the NASCAR All-Star Race. The qualifying results have set the field and the order for the 75-lap sprint race, which will be "Segment 1." The field will be inverted for another 75-lap race for "Segment 2."
Finally, a 200-lap race will feature the 26 drivers who made the field either based on wins, previous championships, or results in the first two segments. The fan vote winner will take the 26th spot in the final 200-lap segment.
Zane Smith's pit crew won the Pit Crew Challenge. A $100,000 bonus to those guys. They had the fastest stop and were much more clean and consistent than pit crews ranked ahead of them. It's all about execution in the moment.
Just to clear up the confusion, the All-Star Race is a 350 lap event. However, drivers will be eliminated after the first two segments. It's going to likely be confusing for fans, but it should be a fun afternoon of racing on Sunday regardless.
