With the 2026 season well underway, MLB Pipeline released another revised list of the Top 100 Prospects across Major League Baseball on Wednesday.
The most notable change would be at the very top spot, which previously belonged to shortstop Konnor Griffin of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Griffin, 20, made his big league debut on April 3 and has since logged the 130 career at-bats to graduate from prospect status. So far, the young infielder has been holding his own and is continually improving his skills.
Behind Griffin on the previous list were two more shortstops, those being Jesús Made and Leo De Vries of the Milwaukee Brewers and Athletics, respectively. On the current list, they have taken the top two spots.
Rounding out the top five are right-handed pitcher Seth Hernandez of the Pirates, shortstop Eli Willits of the Washington Nationals, and right-handed pitcher Trey Yesavage of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Jesús Made and Leo De Vries Rank as MLB’s Top Two Prospects
Jesús Made is a 19-year-old switch-hitting shortstop coming off an impressive 2025 across three minor league levels, hitting .285/.379/.413 with 28 doubles, six home runs and 47 stolen bases. Signed out of the Dominican Republic two years ago, the infielder has demonstrated a remarkably balanced skillset with his hitting, power, running, and arm strength all graded at 60. Perhaps the most impressive tool Made has, however, is his lack of a weak side as a switch-hitter, with his splits as a left-handed and right-handed batter being nearly equal.
Despite being a teenager still playing in Double-A, Made is estimated by MLB Pipeline to make his big league debut this year. Given that the Pirates called up the similarly young Griffin and the Brewers promoted star outfielder Jackson Chourio as a 20-year-old in 2024, perhaps that prediction could be fulfilled and another highly anticipated debut could take place.
MLB Pipeline also predicts Leo De Vries to get his call to the Show later this year. Famously used as the cornerstone in the San Diego Padres’ trade deadline blockbuster for Mason Miller last year, De Vries is very similar to Made in that he is a switch-hitting teenage shortstop with impressive tools across the board. Upon arriving to the Athletics’ system after the trade, the now 19-year-old recorded 40 hits across High-A and Double-A with half of them going for extra bases.
The Athletics already have an intriguing nucleus in place with Nick Kurtz, Tyler Soderstrom, Jacob Wilson and Brent Rooker leading the way. With fellow shortstop Wilson recently landing on the injured list with a dislocated left shoulder, perhaps the A’s can consider De Vries as an option sooner rather than later, although he’d likely move to second base when Wilson returns.

Highly touted right-hander Seth Hernandez has succeeded Griffin as the Pirates’ top prospect and once again gives the club Top 3 representation on MLB Pipeline’s list. The teenager hurler was the first prep pitcher taken in last year’s MLB Draft. Armed with a plus fastball, curveball and changeup, Hernandez was recently promoted from Single-A Bradenton to High-A Greensboro and will make his first start with them later today.
Eli Willits, the first overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, quickly impressed in the transition from high school to minor league ball. In the 15 games after being drafted, the 18-year-old hit .300/.397.360 in 58 plate appearances, and has continued to thrive this year with a .265/.399/.432 slash line in 33 Single-A games.
Trey Yesavage, of course, is already contributing to the Blue Jays at the major league level and even showed flashes of brilliance during last year’s postseason. Featuring one of the nastiest splitters in baseball, Yesavage started this year on the injured list but has picked up right where he left off, allowing just one run over his first three starts and striking out 15 batters across 13.1 innings.
