Dušan Vlahović‘s father met with Bayern Munich over potential move

Juventus striker Dušan Vlahović has been linked to Bayern Munich multiple times over the years, but according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, there could be — at least — some interest in a potential move from both sides for this summer.

Per the report, Bayern Munich met with Vlahović’s father about the possibility of a move this summer:

Dusan Vlahovic’s father met with Bayern Munich in recent days. On the table, of course, was the possibility of a move to Bavaria this summer. It’s a matter of opportunity: while it’s true that he earns a lot, Juventus is currently still offering a contract extension worth €7 million per season, perhaps with a signing bonus of between €4 million and €6 million.

The Serbian has already cost a fortune in transfer fees and various ancillary costs, so the intention for an extension has been to drive a hard bargain. It’s a shame that recent weeks have proven the Serbian striker right, not to mention that a top-tier striker can indeed cost astronomical sums. Hence the decision by the Germans to at least figure out what his future holds: Nicolas Jackson will return to Chelsea, while for Harry Kane, we’ll have to wait for the season’s final match—against Stuttgart—to see what he’ll do.

While nearly everyone is expecting Kane to extend his contract with Bayern Munich, the delay in getting a deal done has caused some to get a bit anxious. According to Corriere dello Sport, it would not be a total surprise if Kane left Bayern Munich this summer to explore opportunities with FC Barcelona or Real Madrid:

For the Englishman, there’s the opportunity to renew, but he has only one year left on his contract and could choose otherwise, following in Lewandowski’s footsteps from a few seasons ago. Perhaps the same country, maybe a different club, but both Real Madrid and Barcelona are looking for a striker. At this point, the idea is not to be completely surprised by a possible departure, and, on the other hand, it could be a good move regardless of Kane’s future.

BFW Commentary

At 26-years-old, Vlahović feels like he is too established to just hop to Germany on a free transfer and be Kane’s back-up. Vlahović has been sidelined for a big chunk of this season with an adductor injury, but did have eight goals and two assists in 21 games across all competitions this season.

As for Kane, it still feels very unlikely that he moves on, but the news on his potential contract extension has gone silent for quite a bit. FC Barcelona could be very appealing (especially given how Robert Lewandowski performed under Hansi Flick during the coach’s time in Bavaria), but Real Madrid — with all of its recent nonsense — might be a tougher sell despite its strong brand and ability to pay Kane whatever he wants.

Could Vlahović conceivably make the jump to Bayern Munich? Sure, it is conceivable. Will he? That is tougher to assess. If Kane stays, Vlahović would be looking at a limited role. If Kane leaves, Bayern Munich could be in a lot of trouble even if it lands Vlahović.
