Dodgers Pull Blake Snell From Scheduled Start vs. Angels

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Blake Snell will not be making his scheduled start on Friday, May 15th, against the Los Angeles Angels.

Snell, who recently got activated from the injured list after overcoming shoulder discomfort, made his first start of the season on Saturday, May 9, against the Atlanta Braves.

The lefty did not look at his best, lacking some overall sharpness on his stuff. He gave up four runs in three innings of work, good for a season-long 12.00 ERA with one start under his belt.

Snell was supposed to be pitching down in Single-A Ontario on Saturday originally, but an injury to Tyler Glasnow opened up an opportunity for Snell to make an immediate jump, and he took it.

Now, in the aftermath of his first taste of Major League Baseball in 2026, Snell is being scratched from his start against the Angels, according to The Athletic’s Katie Woo.

The exact details on Snell’s absence are unknown, though it is reasonable to assume his shoulder could possibly be sore from his season debut, and they don’t want to push him early.

Who will replace Snell vs. the Angels?

In his place will likely be Will Klein, who has experience in a long relief role. The World Series Game 3 hero has a 2.76 ERA and 0.3 bWAR over 12 appearances this season.

He has gone from a pitcher on the fringe of the roster to a solidified member of the team who has gained the trust of Dave Roberts.

It is reasonable to expect Jack Dreyer to piggyback off Klein, due to his two days of rest and experience as a long-relief pitcher.

Additionally, other logical options include Wyatt Mills, who was not good in his Dodgers debut but could eat up innings in a pinch. Also, Blake Treinen could be another name deployed if the game is close late.
