The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired left-handed starting pitcher Eric Lauer in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays. The Dodgers announced the news on social media on Sunday.
The Dodgers transferred right-hander Brusdar Graterol from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL to make room for Lauer on the 40-man roster. In exchange for Lauer and cash considerations, the Blue Jays will reportedly receive a player to be named later or cash considerations, according to MLB Trade Rumors.

The Blue Jays designated Lauer for assignment on May 11 before ultimately trading him to the Dodgers.
Lauer has played the last two seasons with the Blue Jays and made five appearances during Toronto’s playoff run last season. He made two appearances during the World Series against the Dodgers and only gave up two hits and no runs across 5.2 innings.
Before signing with the Blue Jays in free agency ahead of the 2024 season, Lauer played with the Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres.
This is the second time Lauer has been traded in his career, with the first time being when the Padres traded him to the Brewers alongside second baseman Luis Urias for right fielder Trent Grisham and right-handed pitcher Zach Davies in November 2019.
This season, Lauer has posted a 6.69 ERA and 26 strikeouts through 36.1 innings. He has primarily been a starting pitcher throughout his career with all three former teams, logging 133 career starts in 156 total appearances. In 2026, he has started in six of his eight appearances.

The Dodgers are dealing with some injuries in their pitching staff, especially in the starting rotation. Blake Snell is undergoing surgery to remove loose bodies in his elbow next week, Tyler Glasnow is out with lower back spasms and Gavin Stone is on the 60-day IL with shoulder inflammation.
Lauer will add some much needed depth for the Dodgers’ rotation.
