Most New York Mets fans are of the belief that this team has no chance of doing anything this season. When we look at the roster as a whole, there's definitely a ton of talent on it.

Unfortunately, talent on paper doesn't win games, and the Mets have found that out the hard way over the first two months or so of the season.

From a purely record standpoint, it seems rather obvious that New York should sell some of its top players.

However, that decision has to be made by higher-ups in the organization, including David Stearns and Steve Cohen.

If Stearns has the final say, it doesn't sound like he's going in that direction, going as far as to say that he even thinks his team can still do what is needed and has a chance to make a run.

"I think we have the talent on the roster and the character on the roster to make a run," Stearns said, per ESPN. "We've got a lot of season left. I'm not going to say it's early. It's not. We're a quarter into the season. It's not early anymore. But we do have enough season left to make a run and I think we have the talent to do that."

I wouldn't really expect Stearns to come out and say anything else, as he doesn't want to bash his entire roster, but he's just being unrealistic right now.

They do have a lot of season left, and no one can disagree with that, but the Mets would need to go on a very nice run here and would need a lot of help from other teams to even come close to making the postseason at this point.
