New York City is Boston's biggest rival when it comes to sports, but maybe Philadelphia deserves more respect.
Philadelphia's sports teams have dominated Boston's teams this spring, starting with the Philadelphia 76ers' historic comeback against the Boston Celtics in the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
The Sixers overcame a 3-1 deficit by winning three straight games against the Celtics, including Game 7 at TD Garden. It was the first time Boston had blown a 3-1 series lead in the postseason and the first time Philadelphia had beaten the Celtics in a playoff series since 1982.
Two weeks later, the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies came to town and took two of three from the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The Phillies' pitching staff stifled the Red Sox's offense, holding them to just five runs during their three games.
Going back a little further, the Philadelphia Flyers won their two most recent games against the Boston Bruins this year, beating them on Feb. 28 and April 5 in Philly.
The Philadelphia Eagles also won their last game against the New England Patriots, beating them in Foxborough in Week 1 of the 2023 season.
Fortunately, the Red Sox don't play the Phillies again this season and the Patriots won't play the Eagles this year, so Philadelphia's teams can't hurt Boston again for a while until the Bruins and Celtics return to action.
