There are three Chicago Cubs hitters currently heating up at the plate.
All three of these hitters got off to a slow start this season, but they have turned things around in recent weeks. These three hitters have played a major role in the team's two separate 10-game winning streaks since mid-April.
So, which three Cubs hitters are leading the offense right now? Let’s take a look.
Michael Busch
Things looked bleak for Michael Busch early on. He was batting just .118 with two doubles, two RBI, and 12 strikeouts in his first 14 games. Since then, though, Busch has been one of the Cubs' hottest hitters.
The lefty slugger is slashing .296/.417/.469 with three home runs, six doubles, one triple, and 21 RBI over his last 27 contests. The Cubs are 21-6 in these 27 games, and Busch’s metrics are slowly rising following a poor start.
It’s clear that the first baseman is a big part of Chicago’s offense. He has a hit in six of his last seven games, and 21 of his 23 RBI this season have come during this recent stretch. Busch is currently trending up with a barrel rate (8.8%) that now sits in the upper half of the league.
Seiya Suzuki
It was a rough start to the year for Seiya Suzuki. He spent the first two weeks on the injured list after injuring his knee in the World Baseball Classic and was not putting together quality at-bats once he was activated from the IL on April 10.
Suzuki went 8-for-35 (.229 batting average) with one extra-base hit and two RBI across his first 10 games this season. Unsurprisingly, the Cubs slugger has finally gotten going, as he is batting .313 with seven home runs, two doubles, and 14 RBI over his last 18 games.
It was only a matter of time until Suzuki was going to start hitting. He has been one of the team’s best hitters since 2023 and needed just a few games to shake off the rust. The 31-year-old is now batting .284 with seven home runs to begin the year.
Pete Crow-Armstrong
Pete Crow-Armstrong gets a lot of hate for his offensive inconsistencies. He strikes out a lot, chases too many pitches outside of the zone, and struggles to make quality contact sometimes.
That led to Crow-Armstrong getting off to a slow start this year. He batted just .214 with one home run in his first 22 games. But the Cubs center fielder has been much more consistent at the plate in recent weeks.
The 23-year-old is slashing .284/.360/.493 with three home runs, three doubles, one triple, 12 RBI, and five stolen bases across his past 19 games. Crow-Armstrong has a hit in 13 of these 19 contests and continues to hit the ball hard with a 46.8% hard-hit rate.
