May 16 marked the 3-year anniversary of the San Antonio Spurs winning the Victor Wembanyama draft lottery after finishing 22-60. Their luck flipped with the move, as the Spurs finished with a spectacular 62-20 record in regular season, securing the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.

Wembanyama's squad also advanced to the Western Conference Finals by defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 6. Everyone watches Wembanyama look like an absolute alien on defense, but the massive transformation is having multiple high-level decision-makers who can shift between playing on and off the ball, as Mile High Sports' reporter Ryan Blackburn reported.

“After sleeping on it, I wanted to give some credit to the Spurs. I thought they were the Nuggets of 2019 or the Thunder of 2024. Somewhere in that range. They might be better than both. Wemby is ridiculous, but the biggest difference is 3 initiators in (De'Aaron) Fox, (Stephon) Castle, and (Dylan) Harper,” Blackburn tweeted.

If there was any doubt that Castle is a future cornerstone superstar next to Wembanyama, this postseason completely erased it. His crowning achievement came in Game 6 elimination of the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he absolutely dominated with 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists.

As for Harper, the 20-year-old rookie logged 12 points and 10 rebounds in Game 5. Combined with his first-round double-double against Portland, he officially surpassed Derrick Rose to become the youngest guard in NBA history to record multiple playoff double-doubles. Meanwhile, Fox is averaging 18.8 points, 5.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game through his first 11 playoff games with the Spurs.
