Triple Crown attempts may be a fading novelty in horse racing, but plenty of anticipation remains for the second leg of this year’s trifecta, the Preakness Stakes.
The Kentucky Derby winner — Golden Tempo this time around — will once again sit this one out with an eye on next month’s Belmont Stakes, leaving a field of fresh 3-year-old contenders to compete on Maryland’s biggest racing weekend of the year.
The venue itself will be worth tuning in for this year, as the race is set to be held at different venue after 150 years at Pimlico. Renovations at the venerable track will see the Preakness temporarily relocate to Laurel Park, about 30 miles away. Despite the venue change, the race will remain at the traditional 1 3/16 miles.
It should be an exciting weekend of racing in Maryland. Here’s everything you need to know to tune in to the Black-Eyed Susan and the Preakness in 2026.
