Paris FC turn down LFP’s request to host Ligue 1 title celebrations following final home game against PSG

Paris FC have rejected the LFP’s request to host the Ligue 1 trophy presentation at Paris’ Stade Jean-Bouin on Sunday, according to Le Parisien. PSG have all but secured their 15th Ligue 1 title after their 1-0 home win to Brest last Sunday. Luis Enrique’s Champions League winners boast a 6-point lead – and a vastly superior goal difference – over second-placed RC Lens with two goals to spare.

PSG play Lens away this Wednesday before their final Ligue 1 outing against their Paris FC neighbours on Sunday. Logically, PSG are to be handed the Ligue 1 trophy after locking horns with Antoine Kombouaré’s side, but the Arnault-owned promoted club has other plans in mind.

Le Parisien understands that Paris FC have already planned a ceremony to pay tribute to long-serving players that would leave the club, such as Julien Lopez. PSG had a back-up plan in mind and offered to host the Ligue 1 trophy presentation at Parc des Princes, which is just mere metres away from Paris FC’s Stade Jean-Bouin. But those plans have been shelved by the Paris’ police prefecture.
