With a chance to close out their series against the Philadelphia 76ers, the New York Knicks will once again be shorthanded Sunday.
Starting forward OG Anunoby will miss a second straight game with a right hamstring strain. Head coach Mike Brown announced his status in his pregame news conference.
76ers center Joel Embiid, meanwhile, was listed as a starter by the team before the game. He’s been dealing with multiple lower-body injuries and was listed on the injury report with right hip soreness but was probable for Game 4. He returned to play in Game 3 of the series after missing Game 2.
Anunoby sustained his injury late in New York’s Game 2 win. It sidelined him for Game 3, which New York won to take a 3-0 series lead. He was listed as questionable before Sunday, and the Knicks have previously said Anunoby is considered day-to-day.
The Knicks will have a chance to close out the series in Philadelphia on Sunday, but will do so without one of their most important players. In 67 regular-season games, Anunoby averaged 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.6 steals while shooting 48.4% from the field and 38.6% on 3.5 3-point attempts per game.
Anunoby has stepped up his output in the playoffs with averages of 21.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 61.9% from the field and 53.8% on 4.9 3s per game. His success has helped pace the Knicks, who enter Sunday’s game on a six-game win streak.
Guard Miles McBride replaced Anunoby in Game 3 as the Knicks used a smaller starting lineup.
