As speculations grow surrounding the future of Robert Lewandowski, the player has become a hot topic in the market, with even MLS outfit Chicago Fire going all out for the Barcelona frontman.
Recent reports have indicated that Chicago Fire have tabled a lucrative deal for Lewandowski, hoping to lure him to the United States.
As Chicago Fire continue to try and lure Lewandowski, the club’s sporting director has publicly admitted the league’s interest in signing the Barcelona forward.
Chicago Fire confirm interest
During an interview with journalist Ben Jacobs, Chicago Fire sporting director Gregg Broughton confirmed the club’s pursuit directly.
“Robert is a player that MLS is interested in,” he said, which corroborates reports of the MLS outfit offering Lewandowski a lucrative deal.
“It’s important to remember that in MLS, players belong to the league, not directly to the clubs,” he added.

Broughton confirmed that a formal expression of interest has already been made.
“We have shown our interest in trying to bring a player of that calibre to Chicago. Robert is still a Barcelona player, and it wouldn’t be right to talk too much about a player who is under contract with another club,” he added.
Chicago Fire, though, is not the only option at Lewandowski’s disposal, as the Pole has also been courted by Italian clubs, including Juventus, who are ready to offer him a deal worth around €6 million.
This is a fraction of the €20 million deal offered by Chicago Fire, but it appears Lewandowski wants to continue at the highest level of football.
That is why Juventus remain an option, while a prolonged stay at Barcelona has not been ruled out either.
The coming hours could prove to be crucial as his agent, Pini Zahavi, hands Lewandowski all possible options, after which the player is expected to make a final decision.
