Mike Joy Gives New Nickname to Ricky Stenhouse Jr. After Spin During All-Star Qualifying

Everybody has heard Ricky Stenhouse Jr. referred to as Ricky "Spinhouse." It is a nickname that has at times unfairly been bestowed upon him. Then at times, it feels fitting. This new nickname from Mike Joy might just stick after today.

The All-Star Race has a unique qualifying session. Not only do you have to run multiple laps around the track, but you have to make a pit stop as well. It gets everyone involved, and the pit crew challenge is determined by how fast the pit stop ends up being.

During his first laps, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. found himself spinning down the fronstretch at Dover Motor Speedway. He went around once and then went around twice. The entire time, he avoided hitting the wall. Very reminiscent of Jimmie Johnson's spin at Dover all those years ago.

As the replay was played on TV, Mike Joy delivered the perfect line – "Ricky Spin Twice."

While Ricky Stenhouse Jr. didn't complete qualifying, he gave the fans a show. Perhaps most importantly, he kept that No. 47 Nos Energy Chevy clean. He will get a chance to race into the All-Star Race. Had he wrecked that car, his hopes might have been gone before they even began.

Of course, you have to feel for the pit crew. They didn't make the pit stop because of the spin from Stenhouse. So, they won't be winning the pit crew challenge and the bonus money that comes with it.
