Mexico’s 55 player list for World Cup is out

Mexico’s 55 player list for the 2026 World Cup was released. The list is where the 26 players that will take part in the World Cup for Mexico will have to come from this list, as no player not on the list can be part of the final squad. Mexico had already announced a number of players that will take part in the World Cup but that list wasn’t as official as this one.

The official list from Coach Javier Aguirre was the following:

Goalkeepers: Raul Rangel (Chivas), Guillermo Ochoa (AEL Limassol), Carlos Acevedo (Santos Laguna), Alex Padilla (Athletic Bilbao), Jose Antonio Rodriguez (Tijuana), Carlos Moreno (Pachuca)

There were few surprises in the list among the call ups and non call ups. The most notable omission is FC Copenhagen’s Rodrigo Huescas, although his ligament injury that has kept him out of most of the season, to the point that he has yet to return to meaningful action. The other somewhat surprise is Hirving Lozano, but it was also expected after a problem with his club, San Diego FC, meant he was only training and isn’t going to play at all in a match. There were some players that had good season like Diego Campillo and Sebastian Jurado, the large quantity of players (55), meant that those cases were rare. Mexico’s training camp is taking place in the Centro de Alto Rendimiento (CAR) as the team prepares for their next friendly against Ghana on May 22.
