After suffering a blow to the head and the initial scare of the contact, it seemed as if Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka was okay as he finished the first half.
However, once Goretzka got into the locker room, he felt some dizziness and was removed as a precautionary measure (Bild as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
Leon Goretzka felt dizzy in the dressing room at half yesterday after he was struck in the head by Koulierakis’ free-kick in the first half. Goretzka was initially able to continue the half but was then subbed off as a precautionary measure.
Sporting director Christoph Freund explained the situation in as much detail as he could.
“He took a brutal hit to the head with that free kick, but actually felt okay afterwards. However, at halftime he said he was feeling a bit dizzy, not entirely well, and so we decided as a precaution that he should stay in the dressing room,” said Freund.
With his final days in Bavaria here, Goretzka will likely want to do everything he can to finish the season on the pitch.
