Legacy Motor Club is expanding to a third full-time car for the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series season, and several drivers make sense for the entry. The organization has been looking for the next full-time competitor of the No. 84 car, and the search appears to be over. In fact, a deal could be coming sooner rather than later.
Riley Herbst is expected to finalize a contract with Legacy Motor Club to drive the No. 84 car starting in 2027, as reported by The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi. Following the search, Herbst emerged as the leading candidate to fill out Legacy Motor Club’s driver lineup, moving on from 23XI Racing following his second Cup Series season.
The 27-year-old driver has improved during the 2026 NASCAR season, leading to speculation that he might not leave 23XI Racing. Instead, Herbst seems set to sign with Legacy Motor Club during the 2027 NASCAR season, joining Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek.
