Timberwolves coach couldn't believe refs allowed Victor Wembanyama's goaltending

Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama had himself a historic performance in Monday's Game 1 playoff loss to the Timberwolves, recording a postseason-record 12 blocks in a game.

But if you ask Timberwolves coach Chris Finch, Wemby can thank the officials for much of that historical tally.

Throughout the game, it was plainly obvious that the refs were giving Wembanyama a lenient whistle. There were fouls that went uncalled. And then, on at least three occasions, Wembanyama had clear goaltending violations go uncalled.

Finch was asked about officiating on Tuesday, and he was confused as to how clear goaltending could frequently get missed in a playoff game.

Some weren't even close to being clean blocks.

Finch will likely take a fine for the remarks, but he knew what he was doing. By putting the focus on those no-calls, the hope is that the refs correctly officiate those Wembanyama blocks going forward.

After all, he's a generational shot blocker. He doesn't need the help from the refs.
