Kaden Honeycutt scores first career Truck Series victory at Watkins Glen

Kaden Honeycutt won his first career Craftsman Truck Series race in his 67th start Friday evening at Watkins Glen International.

After being penalized for entering pit road while it was closed, the No. 11 Tricon Garage driver took advantage of late cautions to drive from the back to the front and fend off the likes of road-course aces Connor Zilisch and Shane van Gisbergen in overtime to finally get to Victory Lane.

Zilisch and van Gisbergen finished second and third respectively, followed by Daniel Hemric and Chandler Smith completing the top five. AJ Allmendinger, Brent Crews, Mini Tyrrell, Brenden Queen and Connor Mosack rounded out the top 10.

Chaos unfolded in the final 10 laps as multiple wrecks broke out around the 2.45-mile road course. Cup Series regular Carson Hocevar crashed on a restart with nine laps to go, followed immediately by a big incident in Turn 1 on the ensuing restart as Layne Riggs, Kris Wright and Christian Eckes all had their days ruined before the checkered flag.

Ross Chastain, who led 17 laps Friday, was put to the rear of the field after a restart violation and was spun by Ty Majeski on Lap 71 to end the No. 45 Niece Motorsports driver’s day.

The Truck Series season rolls on next Friday at Dover Motor Speedway (5 p.m. ET, FS1, NASCAR Racing Network, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
