Following Victor Wembanyama’s flagrant two elbow and subsequent ejection during the San Antonio Spurs’ Game 4 loss in the Western Conference Semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves, it was announced that Wembanyama would face no further punishment from the league as far as a potential suspension.

The decision for no further consequences against Victor Wembanyama caused no shortage of reactions across the NBA world, including former player Nick Young who was among those calling for the Spurs’ star to face a suspension for Game 5 for his errant elbow.

During a recent episode of Gilbert Arenas’ show, ‘Gil’s Arena Show,’ Young suggested that Wembanyama’s reaction after the fact suggested that there was malicious intent behind the elbow thrown at Wolves big man Naz Reid.

“He deserved to be suspended. That s**t looked worse than Metta World Peace elbow to James Harden,” Young said. “And then you clap after it and celebrate, he meant to do that … when you can’t take the pressure or what people are saying to you, you cock back elbows.”

The incident that Young was referring to was back during the 2011-2012 season when Metta World Peace was suspended seven games after winding up and hitting James Harden in the head with an elbow. The play was somewhat similar.

But Wembanyama will be available and in the Spurs’ lineup for the pivotal Game 5 on Tuesday. During the Spurs’ playoff run so far, Wembanyama has been averaging 19.6 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 4.4 blocked shots with splits of 53.4 percent shooting from the field, 35.3 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 87.5 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
