Eric Roy Refuses to Call PSG Favorite Against Arsenal in Champions League Final

After the defeat at the Parc des Princes (1-0) on Sunday, Eric Roy gave his opinion on the Champions League final. The Brest coach refuses to name PSG as the favorite against Arsenal.

Both Champions League finalists, PSG and Arsenal, did not leave the same impression. On one side, the Parisians added style against formidable opponents like Bayern Munich.

And on the other hand, the Gunners did not convince in their play despite a more favorable bracket. It would therefore be easy to name the defending champion as the favorite. But that is not the opinion of Brest coach Roy.

"I think that in finals you have to be very careful," warned the coach beaten at the Parc des Princes on Sunday.

"Saying that PSG will be the favorite against Arsenal can be understood from the general public's point of view. I don't see it that way. I think Arsenal is a very difficult team to play against; it is also very different from PSG, which bases its results on a very strong defensive foundation, with full-backs who are not offensive and are more like center-backs than anything else. So that's to explain a little bit the different philosophy."

"And on top of that, when it's a single match, it levels the playing field even more, even if you think one team is above. (…) So everything is possible for PSG. Of course, we are supporters. We, as French people… We are also supporters because we like this team, because they play well, because they offer us things, because I think there are also good guys on this team, with a good mentality. We also like the coach who brings a lot to French soccer. We certainly hope they will win," concluded Roy, a fan of Luis Enrique's PSG.
