Eintracht Frankfurt officially part ways with Albert Riera

Eintracht Frankfurt have announced the sacking of head coach Albert Riera following an eighth-place finish in the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, which saw the club miss out on European qualification.

The club stated on Sunday evening that the decision was made by mutual agreement, bringing an end to Riera's short tenure after he recorded four wins, five draws and five defeats since taking charge at the end of January.

Assistant coaches Pablo Remón Arteta and Lorenzo Dolcetti will also depart the club.

“After intensive discussions, we jointly came to the decision to end our cooperation with immediate effect. Albert Riera took over the team during a difficult phase and dedicated himself to Eintracht Frankfurt with great diligence and commitment,” said Eintracht Frankfurt board member for sport Markus Krösche.

“Albert and his staff also provided us with valuable impulses through their meticulous work, for which we would like to expressly thank them. At the same time, following an open and honest analysis of the sporting development, we came to the conclusion that we want to take a different path going into next season. We wish Albert Riera, as well as Pablo Remon Arteta and Lorenzo Dolcetti, all the best for their personal and professional futures.”

Riera said:

"As head coach, I take responsibility for the sporting results, and throughout this period my only focus was to improve the team and achieve success. I felt it was my duty to protect the club and the players, and I would act the same way again at any time.

“I believed this was necessary in order to keep the full focus on achieving success on the pitch. Personal interests never mattered to me. My goal was, is and always will be the same: to develop players and achieve success.”
