Katherine Legge is looking to make history on Memorial Day Weekend as she aims to become the first woman and second driver overall to complete the double and race all 1,100 miles of the Indy 500 and NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 on May 24.

Just starting both races would make Legge the sixth driver and first woman to officially attempt the double, a feat Kyle Larson attempted in both 2024 and 2025. Weather prevented Larson from starting the Coca-Cola 600 in 2024, while he competed in both races last year but crashed out of each.

If Legge can complete the feat, she would join Tony Stewart as the only other driver to rack up the necessary 1,100 miles in one day. First, she must qualify for the Indy 500.

Here's what you need to know about Legge's qualification status for the Indy 500.

Did Katherine Legge qualify for the Indy 500?

Legge doesn't have to worry about missing out on the Indy 500, as there are only 33 cars involved in the qualifying process for the race. As a result, there is no Last Chance Qualifying session and no risk of being bumped out of the field.

Legge will still compete in the qualifying process along with every other driver as the competitors take aim at pole position.

Saturday was supposed to determine which drivers were locked into the 16-33 slots in the Indy 500. However, rain pushed that spectacle — and the runs to determine the order of the remainder of the field — to Sunday.

On Sunday, Legge locked in her place at 27th with an average speed of 229.456 mph during the initial qualifying session.
