Being a football fan is not the easiest at the best of times, even for the big named clubs that dominate the leagues week in and week out. Life as an Arsenal supporter over the last decade or so, well, it is safe to say that “frustrating” would be putting it mildly.
Season after season, they have seemingly improved and gelled as a team better than ever. They have strengthened their squad, established talismans working their socks off week after week, and found a real leader in the form of Mikel Arteta, who really seems to have found his feet in recent years. Ultimately, though, the Gunners always seem to come up short.
As we approach the end of the season, the Gunners’ fate is in their hands in terms of the Premier League title, but it is not just the league that Arteta’s men have their sights set upon. The Gunners also find themselves in the Champions League final. The only problem? They must defeat reigning champions and in-form PSG.
So, could Arsenal fans finally be in for Champions League glory, and what do the bookmakers think? Here is a quick look at the odds from popular Irish bookmaker Scs, and what they could mean for the Gunners.
Arsenal showing maturity in the biggest moments
They say that diamonds are made under pressure, and true champions are not simply defined by winning, but by holding their nerve in the face of adversity. That is why many Arsenal fans believe the 2025/26 season could finally be their year.
The Gunners started the Premier League campaign strongly, then in typical Arsenal fashion, they faltered during the spring and began dropping valuable points, allowing rivals Manchester City to close the gap. That is nothing new for Arsenal, who have experienced similar collapses in recent years and were cruelly labelled “bottle jobs” by critics. This season, however, things feel different.
After crashing out of both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, many expected Arsenal to hand the league initiative back to City. Instead, they rallied, held their nerve, capitalised on dropped points from Pep Guardiola’s side and pushed themselves back into control. They now stand on the brink of their first Premier League title in more than two decades. The equation is simple, win the remaining two matches and they become champions.
It is not just domestic success Arsenal are chasing either. Arteta’s side are also one victory away from lifting the Champions League trophy for the first time in the club’s history. Twenty years after coming painfully close to European glory, the possibility of finally conquering Europe feels almost poetic.
PSG stand between Arsenal and history
When Arsenal faced Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals, many expected their European adventure to end there. The first leg finished 1-1 after Arsenal initially took the lead, while PSG and Bayern Munich produced a thrilling 5-4 encounter in the other semi-final, a match many labelled an instant classic.
The second leg required composure and discipline from Arsenal, and that is exactly what Arteta’s side delivered. They defended strongly, looked dangerous going forward and ultimately secured their place in the final thanks to Bukayo Saka’s decisive first-half finish in a tense 1-0 victory.
The challenge now becomes even greater.
PSG arrive in Hungary looking every inch a European powerhouse. Since Qatar Sports Investments purchased the club in 2011, Paris Saint-Germain have transformed themselves into one of football’s elite sides, investing billions and attracting some of the game’s biggest names.
Last season they dismantled Inter Milan 5-0 in the Champions League final, sending a warning to the rest of Europe. This year, Ousmane Dembele has become their standout figure, helping PSG overcome Bayern Munich 6-4 on aggregate across two sensational semi-final matches.
Dembele will undoubtedly be one Arsenal must contain at the Puskas Arena, especially after being named Ligue 1 Player of the Season.
So, can Arsenal finally do it?
The bookmakers still slightly favour PSG, with several major firms pricing the French side as favourites. Yet Arsenal supporters will believe this squad has already shown the mentality, resilience and quality required to produce something special.
One thing is certain, football fans across the world are eagerly awaiting what promises to be one of the most exciting UEFA Champions League finals in recent memory.
