The Kansas City Chiefs’ connection with the NWSL’s KC Current remains strong with the 2026 season underway. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid made his highly anticipated return for a public appearance for the Current’s battle with the Houston Dash at CPKC Stadium.
Reid was the special guest of the club before their game on Friday night, getting the crowd excited with the traditional ‘KC Baby’ chants. He returned to handle the task, continuing the Chiefs team trend of players and staff who have received that honor.
Reid’s presence was helpful as the Current dominated their opponent to a 3-0 shutout victory. Co-owned by Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, the Current has grown in popularity each year, ranking among the National Women’s Soccer League’s top franchises.
The Chiefs’ winningest head coach has kept busy outside of football throughout the offseason. He was notably in attendance at the Big 12 college basketball tournament supporting his alma mater, BYU.
The Current has expanded into an impactful franchise in the Kansas City community and continues to have synergy with the Chiefs on and off the field.
