The Anthony Gordon transfer saga is in full bloom.
The Newcastle star is one of Europe’s top transfer targets, and understandably so. The industrious winger has been terrific for his side in the Champions League and has shown his skills as a versatile forward who can play across the front line all season.
The winger offers tremendous pace, great hold-up play, and most importantly, a relentless desire to contribute to the team’s successes. His pressing and work rate have caught the eye of one Vincent Kompany, who has approved Bayern Munich’s chase of the Englishman.
According to a report from Chelsea insider Simon Phillips, as covered by Tz, Chelsea has joined the transfer poker for Anthony Gordon’s signature. The report details that while Gordon’s representatives and Bayern Munich officials have already held initial talks, his entourage is currently on a “European tour”, holding talks with several top clubs, including Chelsea and Barcelona.
This spices things up and could potentially make negotiations with Newcastle trickier for the Bayern brass. However, with Kompany’s strong interest and the player’s desire to play for Bayern Munich, the club holds a key card in such discussions between the clubs and might be able to wrap up a deal, especially since Newcastle might not be thrilled at the prospect of their key player joining a Premier League rival.
This transfer saga is turning out to be a roller coaster.
Will Bayern get the deal done?
