Bayern Munich supervisory board backing Max Eberl’s Anthony Gordon pursuit

Bayern Munich supervisory board backing Max Eberl’s Anthony Gordon pursuit

Rumors are flying around everywhere about Bayern Munich and Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon.

Some indicate that the club and the attacker have agreed on personal terms, but nearly all point to there being a gap between what Bayern Munich wants to pay and what Newcastle United is expecting for a transfer fee.

As far as how committed the Bavarians are to this pursuit, it appears that the the club has all of the necessary support, including from the notoriously fickle and frugal supervisory board. Per Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Heiko Niedderer (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is aligned internally on getting Gordon:

The supervisory board is fully behind the transfer of Anthony Gordon and want to back Max Eberl in order to complete the move. Nevertheless, Newcastle’s asking price would have to be brought down. Gordon wants to join Bayern.

It is hard to think about when was the last time that everyone at Bayern Munich was aligned on anything, let alone a potential transfer. While there will be a limit to how far Bayern Munich will go to get Gordon, it appears that the club has made it a primary goal for the summer transfer window.
