Bayern Munich News: No budging on Konrad Laimer’s desired numbers; No visit for PSG star’s brother?; and MORE!

Bayern not likely to budge on Laimer’s salary demands (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)

The contract situation between Bayern Munich and Konrad Laimer has been a tough one to follow.

For weeks, it was reported that there is an insurmountable gap between Bayern Munich’s offer and Laimer’s contract demands. However, late last week, an agreement was rumored to be imminent.

Whatever the case may be, Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk is reporting that Bayern Munich just will not meet Laimer’s pay request:

Uli Hoeneß, the godfather of Bayern Munich, who sits on the supervisory board, said that he likes Konrad Laimer. But he made it clear that the auxiliary right-back has to believe that he’s not Diego Maradona, and so a wage demand of this amount is quite a lot! If he were more heavily involved in Bayern’s successes in the Champions League and had personally steered the club to the final in Budapest, perhaps he’d have an argument to the contrary. But at the moment, there’s no chance Laimer will be signing a new deal for the amount he’s looking for.

Bayern Munich have drawn a line in the sand over Konrad Laimer’s contract demands. They’ve already paid a lot of money for Musiala, Davies, and Joshua Kimmich’s contract. They made him an improved offer on his current contract. It’s said that the Austrian is earning €8m-9m a year (gross). He wants more than €15m, which is the point where Bayern will simply say, “No – we won’t negotiate around this figure”. Then he would have to leave. However, Bayern’s reasoning is that, because Laimer came in on a free from RB Leipzig, if they have to lose him on a free in 2027 (when he turns 29), that wouldn’t be such a big problem. So, they’re happy to run down his contract for another season.

It is hard to say what might happen here, but it at least appears that the two sides are still communicating.

When Union Berlin took down Mainz 05 3-1, it marked the first victory for a female coach in one of Europe’s top 5 leagues. Marie Louise Eta got the job done:

Kvaratskhelia rumors are false (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)

Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk is reporting that Bayern Munich did not engage in talks with Tornike Kvaratskhelia, younger brother of Paris Saint-Germain star Kvicha:

❌ It is NOT TRUE: Tornike Kvaratskhelia travelled to Munich for talks with Bayern officials. I checked this detail and it’s not true – it’s not confirmed! Bayern Munich and Khvicha’s younger brother have yet to have any contact. I don’t know where this rumour is coming from but everyone I spoke to said there hasn’t been a meeting.

Urbig, Bischof, Olise, Ibrahimović recognized for effort (WhoScored.com)

There was a Bayern Munich-infused youth movement on the Bundesliga Team of the Week selections for Match Day 33.

Jonas Urbig, Tom Bischof, Michael Olise, and Arijon Ibrahimović (on loan with Heidenheim) all earned positions on WhoScored.com’s Bundesliga Team of the Week:

Meanwhile, Olise, Urbig, and Ibrahimović were selected by Transfermarkt:

Alonso to Chelsea? (ESPN)

Xabi Alonso’s sacking at Real Madrid would prove to be more of a Real Madrid issue than an Alonso issue, and now people are starting to put that chapter of Alonso’s coaching career in the rearview mirror. Chelsea could be interested in the former Bayern Munich midfielder:

Positive first talks this week between #Chelsea and Xabi #Alonso, who could become the new #CFC’s manager. The spanish coach has given his availability for a long term project and contract. In #Blues’ short list there are still other candidates. Reflections Underway. #transfers

Alonso to Chelsea could be interesting, but he can likely sit back and just wait for whatever job he wants next. After Real Madrid’s implosion, Alonso’s stock is not hurt at all.

Pavard out at Marseille per report (Transfer journalist Nicolò Schira)

Former Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard will be available this summer:

OlympiqueMarseille are not going to trigger the option to buy (€15M) for Benjamin #Pavard, who will return to #Inter to leave again; because he doesn’t seem in Nerazzurri’s Plans. #transfers #OM #TeamOM
