Thanks to their win over Real Betis, Barcelona were able to reach an astonishing record of 19 wins out of 19 home matches in La Liga this season.
It was a perfect record that could have been substantiated further if Barcelona hadn’t lost the game against Alaves, as a win there could have given the Catalans the opportunity to reach 100 points for the season.
A great European record
Nevertheless, Barcelona’s record of 19 home wins out of 19 matches is a record in itself and has been matched only twice by a European team in the history of football.

Indeed, the feat places Barça alongside Juventus, who achieved the same record in Serie A in 2013-14 under Antonio Conte, and Saint-Etienne, who did so in Ligue 1 in 1974-75 under Robert Herbin, reports Mundo Deportivo.
The Saint-Etienne side featured legendary names such as Dominique Rocheteau, Herve Revelli and Jacques Santini.
Meanwhile, no other club in England, Germany or Spain has ever managed 19 home wins from 19 in a single top-flight season.
The previous Spanish record was 17 wins from 17, set by Real Madrid under Luis Molowny in the 1985-86 season.

What makes Barcelona’s achievement even more extraordinary is that it was accomplished across three different venues.
Two matches were played at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, three at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, and the remaining 14 at the Spotify Camp Nou.
Across all three venues, Barcelona scored 57 goals and conceded just 10, keeping 10 clean sheets and winning 15 of the 19 games by a margin of more than one goal.
With one game remaining at Mestalla against Valencia, Barcelona will look to finish the season on a high and reach 97 points.
