Fermin Lopez is reportedly sweating on his fitness ahead of World Cup 2026 after picking up a problem during Barcelona’s 3-1 win over Real Betis on Sunday night.
The Spain star was replaced at half-time due to an injury to his foot. According to Mundo Deportivo, Fermin took a “blow to the fifth metatarsal of his right foot” and is now worried he’s going to need a spell out of the game.
Lopez is due to have tests at Barcelona today to determine the severity of the injury and how much time he may now miss.
The fear seems to be that Lopez may have suffered a fracture which could put his place at World Cup 2026 with Spain in serious jeopardy.
Spain boss Luis de la Fuente is due to name his squad for the tournament in a week’s time and is expected to include up to nine Barca players on his list.
La Roja kick off their campaign against Cape Verde on June 15th and also face Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in the group phase.
