Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer left the team’s 5-1 victory over FC Köln with a calf problem after 60 minutes, but during the team celebration at the Marienplatz, the captain did not seem all that concerned with the issue.
“I just felt something in my left side, and I’d had a bit of a calf problem there, I just didn’t want to take any more risks. That’s why I went off. I wasn’t afraid of the beer showers,” Neuer said with a laugh (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
For fans, the focus will be on whether or not Neuer will be healthy in time to face VfB Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal finale next weekend. This will be the fourth meeting between the two clubs this season after they faced off in the Franz Beckenbauer-Supercup and twice in Bundesliga play.
Now, with the cup on the line, Bayern Munich could have put youngster Jonas Urbig on the big stage next weekend if Neuer cannot go.
