Neymar still hopes to play at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but his chances of making Brazil’s final squad currently appear uncertain.
The 34-year-old has struggled badly with injuries over the past few years, especially during his time at Al Hilal, where he missed long stretches of football.
With several younger attacking players now becoming important parts of the squad, Neymar is no longer guaranteed a place with the Brazil national football team.

Despite that uncertainty, Neymar recently showed he still dreams of shining on the biggest stage.
In a social media exchange with journalist Bruno Formiga, the Brazilian star predicted a World Cup final between Brazil and Spain national football team.
Neymar Predicts World Cup Final
During the conversation with Forminga, Neymar backed Brazil to win 3-1 and even imagined himself scoring a goal and providing an assist in the match.
After fans reacted to the prediction online, Neymar replied with a simple message: “You have to dream, right?”
Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti recently spoke about Neymar’s situation and made it clear that reputation alone will not be enough for selection. Ancelotti admitted Neymar has improved recently and praised him for getting regular minutes again at Santos, but he also stressed that only players who are fully fit and performing consistently will be selected for the World Cup.
Since returning to Santos, Neymar has shown flashes of quality, though fitness concerns continue to trouble him.
Repeated injury setbacks over the last two seasons have made it difficult for him to stay consistent on the pitch.
A Brazil vs Spain final would be one of the biggest possible matchups at the 2026 World Cup, especially with both nations expected to compete strongly for the trophy.
