Great White is huge… as in, massive. He is 17.2 hands — 5 feet, 10 inches tall from the ground to the top of his withers. He weighs more than 1,300 pounds. Trainer John Ennis believes he isn’t done growing.
The average Thoroughbred is 16 hands and can weigh between 1,000 and 1,200 pounds.
Great White’s imposing size didn’t faze FanDuel’s brilliant Andie Biancone this week. She has been aboard the horse for some gallops.
“He is a happy horse and very kind,” Biancone told For The Win from Laurel Park. “Light on his feet for how big he is!”
Great White is listed at 15-1 on the morning line. He won the John Battaglia Memorial at Turfway Park and figures to be a live long shot in the second leg of the Triple Crown.
