Atlanta Braves Place Infielder on IL After Ronald Acuna Jr.'s Return

The Atlanta Braves reinstated star outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. from the injured list on Monday before their game against the Miami Marlins. Acuna had been recovering from a hamstring injury. The ball club placed infielder Kyle Farmer on the 10-day injured list with a strained right forearm in a corresponding move.

Farmer, 35, is a versatile infielder who can play shortstop, second base or third base. He appeared in 10 games with the Braves in 2026 before landing on the injured list, hitting .286/.267/.357 during that span.

Farmer made his MLB debut during the 2017 campaign with the Los Angeles Dodgers. After two seasons in LA, Farmer joined the Cincinnati Reds in 2019. He would remain in Cincinnati through the 2022 season before spending 2023 and 2024 with the Minnesota Twins and 2025 with the Colorado Rockies.

Meanwhile, Acuna hit .252/.362/.378 through 34 games played before landing on the IL. He added two home runs, eight doubles and a triple.

The Braves have been the best team in MLB this year, and they will be even better with Acuna on the field. He features the ceiling of one of the best players in the entire sport.

Braves Continue to Find Success

Atlanta holds a 32-15 overall record so far during the 2026 campaign. The Braves have the best record in the game at the moment.

The fact that Atlanta has performed at such a high level is especially impressive for a number of reasons.

The pitching rotation was hit hard by the injury bug to begin the '26 campaign. The injuries led many to wonder if the ball club would be able to compete at a high level during the 2026 season.

In 2025, the Braves struggled. Their performance led to serious questions, yet Atlanta looks like a World Series contender at the moment.

Ronald Acuna Jr. has not played his best baseball yet, and he has also missed time due to injury.

The Braves are playing exceptional baseball despite all of these concerns. If Acuna is able to play up to his potential after returning from the injury, this Braves ball club will get even better — which is a frightening thought for opposing ball clubs.

Making a World Series run in the National League will be a challenge once again as the Los Angeles Dodgers look to win a third consecutive championship, but the Braves could potentially upset them in the postseason.
