Following yet another successful season, Hansi Flick has signed a new contract with FC Barcelona, extending his stay at the club until 2028.
An agreement over an extension had been finalised for some time now, and the German finally signed the contract earlier today, making it official.
The terms of the deal also include an option for Flick’s stay at Barça to be extended by 12 months until 2029 if both parties wish to do so.
Flick elated
Speaking to the club media, Flick expressed his happiness after signing his contract extension as coach until 2028.
The German coach once again emphasised his love for the club, stating: “Barça is more than a club, and it’s a pleasure for me to continue this journey.
“Every day I can feel the passion that the staff, the players, the fans have for the club… It’s wonderful, and it’s special for me because we’ve shared so many fantastic moments in the past.”
Flick also expressed his gratitude towards the club, adding: “I appreciate the trust the club, the president, and the board have placed in me; it means a lot to me, it’s wonderful.
“I always look to the future positively. We have to learn and improve; that’s what I want to see from the team and everyone around it. Everyone needs to be involved in the work, united.”
Highlighting the connection with the fans as especially important, Flick remarked: “It was a wonderful atmosphere, the way they supported us in every match was extraordinary, especially in the last few games.”

At the same time, he expressed ambition and motivation for the future, saying: “The goal is to win more titles, perhaps also the Champions League, we will work for that, so that the dream comes true.”
Concluding, Flick made it very clear that after two years and five titles, he was eager for more.
“I’m even hungrier and want to win more titles for the club. These are things I believe in, and I’m very happy,” Flick noted.
“In recent weeks and months, we’ve been playing very well, very consistently. It’s good to see, but we need to change some things. We’re working together with Deco, and I’m very happy to be working with him and his team.”
