Barcelona midfielder Gavi says his team must be proud of their season and shouldn’t be obsessed with winning the Champions League.
Hansi Flick’s side were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals by Atletico as their wait to be crowned champions of Europe again goes on.
However, the Catalans could seal a second successive league title on Sunday against Madrid, and Gavi says the players should be proud of what they have achieved in the current campaign.
“We shouldn’t obsess over the Champions League. When it comes, it’ll come,” he told Movistar.
“We’ve had an incredible season in LaLiga, we’ve won the Supercup again, proud of my team. I hope to win LaLiga this weekend and celebrate it.”
Madrid won the previous Clasico at the Bernabeu in La Liga but Barca’s form has been imperious since, with Flick’s side winning 22 out of 24 matches to move 11 points clear of their bitter rivals.
