Draymond Green had something to say after Victor Wembanyama avoided further punishment for his elbowing incident against Naz Reid. Wembanyama was ejected during the Spurs’ game against the Timberwolves, but the league reportedly decided there would be no suspension or fine, clearing him to play Game 5 in San Antonio.
That decision caught Green’s attention, especially given how often his own controversial moments have been judged over the years. After a fan posed a question on X, Green responded in a way that suggested he noticed the double standard.
A fan on X shared a close up video of Wembanyama’s elbow to Reid’s face with a caption that said, “If this was @Money23Green how many games would we be asking for?”
Green replied to it saying, “Y’all have called for my career for less.”
Victor Wembanyama Avoids a Fine and Suspension After Losing His Cool
Victor Wembanyama’s elbow on Naz Reid looked bad enough to get him tossed, but it will not cost him anything beyond that game.
The NBA has decided not to hand Wembanyama any extra punishment, so there will be no fine and no suspension. That is huge news for San Antonio, because the series is tied 2-2, and Game 5 now shifts back to the Spurs’ home floor.
The play happened while Wembanyama was battling through traffic after a rebound. Minnesota had bodies around him, contact was building, and when he tried to clear space, his elbow caught Reid high. After review, officials ruled it a flagrant 2, ending Wembanyama’s night much earlier than anyone expected.

San Antonio never really looked the same after that. Wembanyama had barely settled into the game before being sent off, and the Timberwolves used his absence to stay aggressive and eventually pull out the win. Anthony Edwards took over late, helping Minnesota level the series and turn Game 5 into a major swing game.
For the Spurs, the league’s decision is a major relief. Wembanyama being available changes everything defensively and offensively, especially in a matchup this tight.
The controversy is not going away, but at least for San Antonio, the focus can now shift back to basketball.
