With two straight Champions League finals, PSG commands admiration and is closing in on Europe's biggest clubs in the UEFA rankings.
In contention to retain its European champion title won last season against Inter Milan, PSG dreams of creating a dynasty. It is possible with a highly motivated coach who never lacks fruitful ideas, a young and promising squad, and colossal financial means.
With a second consecutive Champions League final, PSG now finds itself on the podium of the best European clubs according to the UEFA ranking.
Like the UEFA country index, the UEFA coefficient ranking shows which club is the best over a five-year period. This ranking, therefore, takes into account PSG's less convincing years in 2021 and 2022, when they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, respectively.
But over the last three seasons, with a semifinal against Dortmund and two finals, including one won, Paris has made a spectacular comeback. So much so that the draw obtained in Munich this week allows the Parisian club to surpass Liverpool, with 131 points compared to the Reds' 130.
Bayern Munich occupies first place with 147.5 points, and its consistency in this competition is thus rewarded. Real Madrid still occupies second place, thanks to its successes in 2022 and 2024, but its lead over Paris is shrinking over the last two seasons, with 19 points lost to PSG.
Next season, the White House will begin its campaign with a small two-point lead over Luis Enrique's team. And perhaps less if Paris prevails against Arsenal at the end of May.
Note that only one French club is in the Top 30 of this ranking: Lille, at 29th, just ahead of Lyon at 31st.
