Daniel Riolo Praises PSG but Calls on Nasser Al-Khelaifi to 'Step Up'

PSG is close to achieving a second historic season as everything is going well for the French capital club. But Daniel Riolo believes that Nasser Al-Khelaifi must step up for PSG to truly be up to standard.

For PSG supporters, it is currently a dream they have been living for more than a year. And on Sunday night, between the victory against Brest, almost synonymous with the French league title, the presentation of the new jersey, universally praised, and the euphoria generated by qualifying for the Champions League final, the Parc des Princes was in ecstasy.

On RMC, Riolo, sometimes vilified by Parisian fans given his comments about Luis Enrique, acknowledged that the period was unbelievable and that Paris is succeeding at everything. But the After Foot journalist still slipped in a little dig at Al-Khelaifi, whose attitude toward other Ligue 1 clubs he regrets.

In the wake of the victory over Brest, Riolo criticized the Qatari executive before appealing to him.

"Honestly, PSG is doing everything right. Apart from Nasser's eccentricities on the institutional politics side of the LFP, the rest, whether sportingly or even in the details, is perfect. What the supporters did was help put the exhibition back up after the vandalism on the night of the match against Bayern Munich. I thought it was a good gesture. Sunday night was also the 10th anniversary of the CUP (Collectif Ultras Paris), there was a party, and it was good."

"No, really, they are doing everything right: they invite former presidents, former players. It's an absolutely prosperous period for PSG. And that in this period, they release the old jersey to reconnect with the past, it's perfect. Apart from Nasser, everything is fine. Afterward, we are still forced to say that Ligue 1 is in this state because completely crazy choices persist. I would like Nasser Al-Khelaifi to change. They took a first step on the distribution of international rights, but with a snap of his fingers, he can change French soccer, and at no cost to him. Let him do it! We would just need to open our eyes," Riolo said.
