Brazil has long-term security when it comes to preparing for the 2026 and 2030 FIFA World Cups, having agreed to a major deal with manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti has been the national team’s head coach since last summer, taking over the reins to help the country win its sixth title and first since 2002. They went through a difficult qualifying cycle, but Ancelotti has since helped them regain some of their form to qualify for the tournament.
Brazil knew it had a remarkably successful coach handling the huge responsibilities, having seen him win many titles at the club level. Seeing the potential the team has with him leading the way, the federation inked him to a contract extension that will run until the end of the 2030 World Cup.
“I arrived in Brazil a year ago. From the first minute, I understood what football means to this country,” Ancelotti said on the CBF website, via ESPN. “For a year, we have been working to bring the Brazilian national team back to the top of the world, but the CBF and I want more — more victories, more time, more work.
“We are very happy to announce that we will continue together for another four years. We will go together until the 2030 World Cup. I want to thank the CBF for their trust. Thank you, Brazil, for the warm welcome and for all the affection.”

Carlo Ancelotti has a record of five wins, three losses and two draws after 10 matches. He has given Brazil more defensive stability, something that will be crucial against the best national teams in the 2026 World Cup.
Following the extension, Ancelotti reveals the 26 players he will take to the tournament. Neymar is on the preliminary list, showing that the manager is keeping a close eye on the veteran star’s form ahead of next month.
Brazil will begin its journey in the World Cup by facing 2022 fourth-place finalists Morocco on June 13 at 6 p.m. ET. After that, they take on Haiti on June 19 at 8:30 p.m. ET and Scotland on June 24 at 6 p.m. ET.
