It's the time of year when the news can never be good.

It's too close to the World Cup, and the only hope when an injury happens is that it's less of a big deal than it initially seems. But for Canada and Alphonso Davies, it seems they have not avoided that fate.

Davies is set to miss four-to-five weeks with a left hamstring injury, his club Bayern Munich announced.

The World Cup starts in five weeks.

Sure, Davies could've been ruled out for longer, but in the realm of what's happening here, it's brutal news for Team Canada.

Davis is their player in highest regard in world football, and his pace and skillset make him a threat no matter where Canada chooses to line him up on the pitch.

His injury timeline has now made things very tricky, though.

You'd have to think Canada will select Davis for its World Cup roster no matter what, because he's too transcendent a player to leave at home.

This is a huge tournament for the Canadian side, with Canada set to host games as part of the three-country North American World Cup. The Canadian federation did release a statement:

Davies himself surely wants no part of missing out. This certainly has been a highly anticipated moment for him, too.

At this point, he'll just have to find a way to heal up from his hamstring injury as best he can, while all of Canada's soccer hopes keep their fingers crossed that it can work out OK for their star.
