RB Salzburg centre-back Joane Gadou is in Germany to complete a move to Borussia Dortmund, according to both Sky Germany and Bild.
If everything goes according to plan, the 19-year-old will join BVB for a reported fee of €19 million plus €4.5 million in bonuses.
He is set to sign a contract until 2031 and take the squad spot of Niklas Süle, who recently announced that he will retire from football at the end of the season.
Gadou confirmed his imminent departure from Salzburg in an emotional Instagram post published overnight between Monday and Tuesday.
“I leave with strong memories, moments I will never forget, and above all, amazing people I had the chance to meet. Thank you to the coaches, the staff, my teammates, and everyone at the club who played a part, directly or indirectly, in my journey here,” he wrote.
“I’m grateful for every piece of advice, every moment shared, and every experience lived wearing these colors. A chapter is ending, but everything I learned here will stay with me for the rest of my career and my life. Thank you Salzburg.”
The France U19 international joined Salzburg from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported €10 million fee in 2024.
Since then, he has made 58 appearances for the Austrian side.
