The Indiana Fever announced a concerning injury update regarding star center Aliyah Boston ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Seattle Storm.
According to Chloe Peterson, Boston has officially been listed as questionable with a lower leg injury entering the game against Seattle. The update comes less than 24 hours after Boston exited Friday night’s overtime loss against the Washington Mystics and did not return.
Boston checked out with just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter during Indiana’s 104-102 loss. Shortly afterward, the Fever announced she would miss the rest of the game because of the injury.
The situation immediately became a major storyline for Indiana, especially considering Boston’s importance to the team on both ends of the floor. While Caitlin Clark erupted for 32 points and eight assists against Washington, Indiana struggled defensively inside after Boston’s exit.
Aliyah Boston’s Injury Raises Questions for Indiana
Following Friday’s game, Fever head coach Stephanie White told reporters she had not yet received a full update from the team’s medical staff.
“I don’t have any information,” White said after the game. “I haven’t spoken to our medical staff yet.”
That uncertainty has only increased concern around Boston’s status moving forward, especially because the former No. 1 overall pick already dealt with a lower leg injury earlier this year while playing in Unrivaled.
That injury forced Boston to miss the end of the Unrivaled season, the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament and portions of Indiana’s preseason schedule before returning for the start of the WNBA season.
It remains unclear whether Friday’s injury is related to the previous issue.
Aliyah Boston Has Been Crucial for Indiana Fever
Boston has continued to serve as one of the foundational pieces of Indiana’s roster entering the 2026 season.
The three-time WNBA All-Star entered the year coming off another dominant campaign and was recently ranked among the league’s top players by WNBA general managers. Her interior scoring, rebounding and defense remain critical for a Fever team trying to establish itself as a championship contender around Clark and Kelsey Mitchell.
Before leaving Friday’s game, Boston finished with nine points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 20 minutes.
Indiana now faces the possibility of taking on Seattle without one of its most important players.
Fever Looking to Bounce Back Against Seattle
The Fever enter Sunday’s game with a 1-2 record despite strong offensive performances from Clark through the opening stretch of the season.
Clark is averaging 25.3 points and 8.0 assists through Indiana’s first three games, including her 32-point outing against Washington.
However, Indiana’s defensive struggles have become a major issue early in the season. The Fever have already allowed more than 100 points twice in three games, and Boston’s availability could play a significant role in whether Indiana can slow down Seattle’s frontcourt.
The Fever and Storm are scheduled to tip off Sunday evening at Gainbridge Fieldhouse at 6:00 pm ET.
