Caitlin Clark reaches unheard territory in WNBA history after 32-point scoring outburst

Caitlin Clark has already pushed herself into a new WNBA statistical category just three games into the season.

The Indiana Fever star reached the mark after a 32-point scoring outburst in a 104-102 overtime loss to the Washington Mystics.

Indiana did not get the win, but Clark’s individual start has already become one of the biggest stories of the new WNBA season.

Caitlin Clark opens season with historic WNBA burst

As Real App noted, Clark became the first player in league history to combine elite scoring and playmaking across the first three games of a season.

“Caitlin Clark is the first player in WNBA history to record 75+ PTS & 20+ AST in the first 3 games of a season,” Real App tweeted.

Clark reached the milestone with 76 points and 24 assists through Indiana’s first three games.

She opened with 20 points, seven assists and five rebounds against the Dallas Wings. She followed that with 24 points, nine assists and four rebounds against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Then came the Washington game, where she delivered 32 points, eight assists and four rebounds despite the Fever falling short in overtime.

Caitlin Clark’s Mystics takeover made record feel inevitable

The record became possible because of Clark’s late explosion against Washington. She struggled early, but took over in the fourth quarter by scoring 17 points and hitting five threes in the period.

Her biggest shot came near the end of regulation, when she drilled a contested three to force overtime and keep Indiana alive.

The Fever still lost, but the performance showed why Clark’s production is not only about volume. She is creating offense for herself and others while defenses are built around stopping her.

Through three games, Clark is averaging 25.3 points and eight assists while carrying one of the league’s heaviest offensive burdens.

That is why the record matters. It does not just show that Clark is scoring. It shows she is already controlling games as both a shooter and a passer at a level the WNBA had not seen to open a season.
