Kyle Busch’s future with Richard Childress Racing is one of the biggest storylines in 2026. Busch and the No. 8 team have struggled, leading to speculation that he would leave Richard Childress Racing after the 2026 NASCAR season. However, the latest update on the two-time Cup Series champion appears to be the opposite.
It is “increasingly likely” that Busch will eventually sign an extension with Richard Childress Racing, as reported by The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi. The driver of the No. 8 car hasn’t won a Cup Series race since the 2023 NASCAR season, and there might not be any openings that put him in a better situation.
Even though Richard Childress Racing has Jesse Love waiting in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series, it would be foolish not to re-sign Busch if given the opportunity. The 41-year-old driver is still capable of winning in the Cup Series if given good enough equipment, and Richard Childress Racing hopes to provide him that in 2026 and beyond.
